Donga Carpet

$3,000
Colour: Natural Grey and White
Description

Hand knotted natural grey wool carpet. In certain areas of the Plateau, soil erosion shaped by the running of melting glaciers forms imposing sculptures that characterize a place.

This carpet is inspired by the random outlines of donga sculpted soil. It is knotted from three natural shades of wool playing on the light wool of sheep and the darker tones of yak khullu. It takes a single artisan up to 60 days to spin and create this carpet.

Composition & care

Composition: 75% Sheep Wool, 25% Yak Khullu
Care: Tibetans washed their carpets in rivers and let them dry on the pasture. Since this is not always feasible, you have other choices:
1)A carpet shampooer, using wool friendly detergent and cold water.
2) Spot cleaning with mild, wool friendly detergent
3) Putting your carpet on a flat surface, deck or terrace and thoroughly wetting it with a garden hose. Apply wool friendly detergent and scrub it with a brush. Rinse out the soap with the hose and let the carpet dry away from sunlight.
