Culture

In Tibetan culture, rivers are sacred lifelines. They are believed to connect the spiritual and natural worlds, known to be the dwelling areas of spirits and deities, and because of this are deeply respected.

People are mindful to keep them free of waste and unpolluted, and there are rituals designed to appease any spirits, mainly Nagas, the snake gods, who may be angered by human negligence

COMPOSITION IN DETAIL

The handspun family of weaves are Norlha’s softest, warmest and densest pieces, woven from 100% yak khullu. Following a spinning tradition that has been passed down among the women of the plateau’s nomad communities for generations, hand-spinning is a process that requires incredible dexterity, speed and coordination, resulting in an unsurpassable quality of yarn.
