Melange Felt Vest
This vest is raw-felted and moulded using a zero-waste process, demonstrating remarkable craftsmanship and skill. With a seamless construction, it features seamless pockets and a high neck. The irregular melange design combines white and natural grey khullu, the vest’s cloud-like patterns varying from piece to piece, adding to their unique quality.

- Provenance: Handfelted at Norlha Atelier using yak khullu sourced from local nomad cooperatives.
- Base colour: Yaks typically have a dark brown coat, but they can also be found in grey and, very rarely, in golden brown and white. Our artisans work with all four yak wool shades, which are either left in their natural state, combined to create different tones, or dyed.
- Yak khullu: This piece was made using the khullu of 3 yaks. Khullu is the ultra-fine, downy undercoat that keeps yak insulated during harsh Tibetan winters. Each summer, the yak naturally shed this down, which is then carefully collected by hand.

Hand-Painted Four Friends Blessing

This blessing is hand-painted in copper sand ink on black paper by Lhagon Kyap, a local painter who specialises in thangkas (Tibetan religious scrolls). The Four friends is a symbol of harmony. In ancients times, before the coming of Buddha, an elephant, a monkey, a hare and a grouse lived in the jungles of the kingdom of Kashinagar, which is in present day Varanasi, in India. They decided that the source of happiness lay in the respect of others.
