This yak khullu Yak is part of a limited range of toys created using repurposed woven offcuts from previous Norlha collections. Each yak is hand-stitched using fabrics that have been carefully saved and archived at the atelier since Norlha began.

- Base colour: Yaks typically have a dark brown coat, but they can also be found in grey and, very rarely, in golden brown and white. Our artisans work with all four yak wool shades, which are either left in their natural state, combined to create different tones, or dyed.

Hand-Painted Four Friends Blessing

This blessing is hand-painted in copper sand ink on black paper by Lhagon Kyap, a local painter who specialises in thangkas (Tibetan religious scrolls). The Four friends is a symbol of harmony. In ancients times, before the coming of Buddha, an elephant, a monkey, a hare and a grouse lived in the jungles of the kingdom of Kashinagar, which is in present day Varanasi, in India. They decided that the source of happiness lay in the respect of others.
