ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ The Buddha Blessing depicts the most recited and ubiquitous of all Buddhist mantras, oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ. Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ is a praise to the four-armed Avalokiteshvara (translated as ‘the lord who looks in every direction’ or ‘the lord of what we see’), the Buddhist deity of infinite compassion and mercy. The mantra invokes ‘the jewel in the lotus’, the jewel being the wish fulfilling gem (or cintāmaṇi), and the lotus representing purity. Either spoken aloud or sounded internally, the mantra is believed to create a connection to Avalokiteshvara and induce a higher level of spiritual awareness. A lightweight cape with an oversized silhouette that drapes over the body with a fluid form. It features an oversized panel at the neck that, can be worn like a scarf or left to hang loosely. The cape can be joined at both sides with a button to create generous, roomy sleeves. It is finished with a contrast hem made from pure white yak khullu. This fabric is made using an overfelting technique developed at Norlha Atelier, in which yak khullu is felted onto a woven yak wool textile, creating a subtle, double-faced finish.
