THE WHEEL OF THE DHARMA

The dharma wheel or chos kyi 'khor lo in Tibetan, is one of the Auspicious symbols in Tibetan Buddhism. These symbols represent good fortune and the path to enlightenment, woven into Tibetan culture carrying specific meaning.

In Buddhist tradition, Turning the Wheel of Dharma signifies the Buddha’s formal transmission of the Dharma. The wheel’s circular form represents the perfection and completeness of the teachings.

Its rim symbolises meditative concentration and mindfulness, which stabilise and sustain practice, while the hub represents ethical discipline, the central foundation of the path. Through the turning of the Wheel of Dharma, the Buddha revealed a path of virtue and insight through which sentient beings may attain liberation.
