Le Figaro Voyage
"Somewhere in the Land of Snows, in a small village away from it all, you can hear music from another time. It is punctuated by the comings and goings of the shuttles on the doors of looms operated by hand, by the clatter of wheels serrated on wooden cylinders slowly swallowing the woolen cloths, for the regular movement of raising harnesses and lowering the lists according to a complicated scheme that the weavers know by heart and that allows them to make, millimeter after millimeter, a unique fabric in the world. And when the machines stop, we still hear the murmur of prayer that they repeat endlessly: 'Aum mani padme hum', the mantra of great compassion, eternal litany of Tibetan Buddhism."
